Happy International Women's Day

Happy International Women’s Day! Today we celebrate the incredible achievements, strength, talent and resilience of women around the world. And whilst we really don’t need reminding of how important an issue equality and women’s rights are, this annual focal point is always a welcome spotlight and dear to my heart :)

So today, what better way to honour that than by shining a light on the women whose musical artistry have shaped the soundtrack to our lives?

I’m thrilled to be announcing the arrival of an upcoming t-shirt design collection ‘Ladies First’. The initial design being a salute and tribute to the female artists who left an indelible mark on the heady world of 90’s Hip Hop culture. A celebration of the female emcee and how her powerful voice, energy and confidence has paved and pioneered the way, defined and shaped a generation to come.

Each artist has her own unique and distinct style; attitude, musical flavour and contribution to the scene. This image is of Salt-N-Pepa embellished with some colourful and abstract stylisation aims to celebrate the first Female Rap Act (group or solo) to ever go Gold or Platinum.

Likewise i have chosen to highlight the work and contributions of artists such as Monie Love, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Roxanne Shante. By no means an exclusive list, these are the women and their music that have made an impression on me and i hope will resonate with likeminded sisters.

Each design in this portrait collection tells a story, a story of passion, talent and perseverance, and the sheer power of female expression. I’ve poured my heart into creating pieces that not only look fantastic, pop off the fabric but also resonate with the spirit of these incredible women.

This isn't just about wearing a t-shirt; it's about wearing a statement. It's about honouring their history, amplifying the voices that deserve to be heard, celebrating the contributions that have shaped our culture, and honouring the women who have dared to be resolutely themselves in an era, time and space almost solely dominated by male artists.

Stay tuned for the full collection launch! I can't wait to share these wearable works of art with you and celebrate the extraordinary women who have given us the gift of their music.

In the meantime, let's continue to support, appreciate, uplift and empower women and girls every day. Happy International Women's Day!
